Cederroth’s Sustainability Efforts: Recycled Plastic from Old Refrigerators
Cederroth is actively working to continuously improve its products and reduce its environmental impact. Through long-term sustainability efforts, more climate-smart products and packaging are being developed to contribute to a better environment.
In January 2022, updated stations and dispensers were launched where the green-colored plastic has been replaced with more than 85% recycled plastic, originating from refrigerators and other electronic equipment. This initiative results in the replacement of 100 tons of plastic per year – equivalent to the weight of approximately 100 cars.
As the next step in the sustainability journey, the plastic used in the transparent station covers will be replaced with a more sustainable material.
The Benefits of Recycled Plastic
Using recycled plastic offers significant environmental benefits. It reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 90% compared to newly manufactured plastic. Through this initiative, Cederroth is expected to reduce its CO2e emissions by 300 tons per year. This reduction is equivalent to 300 round-trip flights between Stockholm and Geneva or removing 120 cars from traffic for a year.
Sustainable Packaging
Cederroth is continuously working to reduce the amount of packaging material, for example, by making plaster packaging more compact. Recycled materials are used in both paper boxes and cartons, and the total amount of packaging material in Cederroth’s first aid products consists of more than 50% recycled material.
Through these efforts, Cederroth continues to develop more sustainable products and contribute to a more circular economy.
